Top esports outfit Team Liquid is relaunching its fan engagement platform — which was originally called Liquid+ but is now MyBlue — on the Sui blockchain.
Users will be able to generate their own soulbound NFT avatar of Team Liquid’s Blue mascot, and then customize it with digital items which they earn by completing social quests.
Other digital collectibles will include memorabilia of important esports moments and there will also be real world prizes such as signed jerseys, store discounts, in-game currency, exclusive merch, player access and access to events.
The onboarding process for users will happen through Mysten Labs’ zkLogin, which only requires social accounts and creates a Sui wallet in the background.
However, users won’t have to use blockchain if they don’t want to, as they will be given the option to have a non-blockchain basic account, albeit with fewer rewards.
The move to blockchain is part of Team Liquid’s longterm transition of Liquid+, which launched back in 2020.
To support the launch, it’s hosting a celebration event on Thursday 14th November from 12 to 4pm PT at twitch.tv/teamliquid in which fans will be able to earn prizes by playing the world's largest crane game and by entering a prize giveaway.
You can create your own Blue and start customizing it here.
The move is one that also builds momentum for Sui, which was late to blockchain gaming, but which since has announced adoption from South Korean pop shooter Xociety — migrated from Polygon — as well as Animoca’s Darktimes and SNK’s Shodown Samurai R.
Of course, its biggest move is the SuiPlay0X1 PC gaming portable, which is available on pre-order for 2025 delivery, priced $600.

Migration Watch
Many blockchain games have done the blockchain hokey-cokey during 2024 and the latest is UK dev Pixion’s Fableborne, with the mobile action RPG moving from Avalanche to Ronin.
It hasn’t said as much but while Avalanche has scored some high profile games such as Off The Grid, Shrapnel and MapleStory Universe, these are highly discrete titles, with their own communities.
On the other hand, Ronin has demonstrated that pretty much every game launching on its blockchain will get around 100,000 DAUWs, at least during initial testing.
At the risk of highlighting another golden cohort, the self-styled ‘Diablo-meets-Clash-of-Clans’ title claims it hit Day-1 retention of 81% and Day-7 of 45% during testing. It’s also in a genre that Ronin’s currently lacking so should fit in well alongside mobile strategy game Wild Forest and the various MMORPGs.

The times they are a-changing, a bubble is forming, content becomes infinite and various other AI-inspired clichés… So, maybe it’s time for another Substack?
Nothing if not experimental, I present Regen Raygun. I have some rough ideas but who knows where it will end up? All I know is my lodestar is “context is that which remains scarce”, so probably I should be working towards that.
