I’ve been publishing top 50 game development lists since 2009. I’m not sure if that’s a boast or a confession.
There’s certainly something compulsive about the process.
No matter how efficient you become in the process, it always proves to be a beast to complete. No matter how much you know, there’s always more research you can do. And as soon as it’s out, the news cycle start to gnaw away at its relevance.
Equally, you’re only guaranteed to really please one company: the one you make top dog. The other 49 may be content but — depending where they are ranked in comparison to their competitors — they may not be happy.
Of course, n-50 of the entire industry wants to know exactly why they’re not listed.
Nevertheless, I do love a good top 50. I think they’re useful in the early stages of an industry when there’s a general lack of quality analysis. Their value also stacks over the year.
And on that basis I’m pleased to commend BlockchainGamer.biz’s top 50 blockchain game companies for 2024 to you.
Be gentle in the comments!

Funding The Funders news
There’s a new web3 fund in town. Paper Ventures has announced it’s raising a $25 million fund to invest in consumer web3. Games will be part of its portfolio but not predominately so. Founded by Danish Chaudhry (ex-Blackrock), Oliver Blakey (ex- Ascensive Assets) and Ivailo Jordanov (Deadalus Collective), Paper Ventures hopes to operate in the pre-seed/seed stages that it says are now unrepresented in terms of investor activity.
