Another year, another Top 50 blockchain game company list goes live.
It’s always something of a process to curate, but every year it also gets a bit easier as the quality of the best companies becomes more apparent.
Remembering back at the first blockchain gaming list in 2020, it was a struggle to cobble together 50 half-decent companies. But that was nothing compared to the first top 50 list I ever did — PocketGamer.biz’s top 50 iPhone game makers — way back in 2009.
I also think it’s somewhat easier to put together such lists during difficult years, such as 2024 was for its majority. When everything’s popping higher every day, every company looks like a world beater and comparative advantage becomes much harder to define.
Hopefully, that will make 2026’s list super difficult.
As for the full rundown, you can check out the whole thing on BlockchainGamer.biz, but to save you a click, here’s the top 10.
10. Faraway Games
9. CCP Games
8. Immutable
7. Gunzilla Games
6. Animoca Brands
5. Mythical Games
4. Pixels
3. Igloo Inc.
2. Sky Mavis
The #1 company for 2025 was Proof of Play, which I justified thus:
“Not as well known now as it will become, US developer Proof of Play is leading the blockchain gaming revolution in two important respects. Not only has it been quietly running the most popular fully onchain game in the shape of Pirate Nation for almost 2 years, but it’s also operating two of the most popular gaming blockchains, called Apex and Boss.
Of course, these two things are not unrelated. Arbitrum-based Apex first went live to support the growing popularity of Pirate Nation, with Boss quickly following as the game continued to attract attention following the launch of the PIRATE token and its ongoing points event for the forthcoming Proof of Play token launch.
And both aspects of the business have much further to expand. On the infrastructure side, Proof of Play is positioning itself as the AWS for blockchain gaming, with the expectation that its already highly scalable blockchains will become available for other studios to take advantage of.
As for Pirate Nation, as a fully onchain experience, it has the potential to be expanded by developers other than Proof of Play; something that is already seen with the release of various third party tools. Players are also having an impact, building their own real money businesses within the game, leveraging crafting specializations to more efficiently sell the items other players require to progress.
The result is Proof of Play has built complementary and reinforcing flywheels in each part of its business. 2025 will be the year to see how fast they can really spin.”

Ronin Memecoin news
Sky Mavis’ Ronin zkEVM blockchain is going permissionless and everyone is queuing up to launch their apps and games. First out of the blocks — actually I think Sky Mavis gave it permission to go live on the main Ronin L1 — is the Moku project, which has launched its memecoin launchpad Tama.Meme.
As is the case with such launchpads, anyone can create a memecoin for nominal cost; the trick being to get enough people to buy in that it migrates from this platform to Ronin’s main Katana DEX. Within the first hour, over a thousand coins were launched with 18 tokens graduating to Katana.
Personally, I haven’t seen anything particularly interesting yet, although I did laugh at Rough Love Potion, as a contrast to Axie Infinity’s utility Smooth Love Potion token — but not enough to buy any.
Telegram Goes TON Exclusive news
If the combination of Telegram mini apps and TON blockchain integration was the big trend of Q2 2024, it was interesting to see developers mixing up the meta in Q3, launching mini games but connecting them to other blockchains including Ronin and Immutable. But it looks like that play is over.
The latest news from Telegram says TON is now its “exclusive blockchain infrastructure”, which will be enforced as the TON Connect protocol becomes the only way to link mini apps to blockchain wallets. This covers features such as “custodial and non-custodial wallets, user authorization, on-chain signatures, and the sending and receiving of blockchain-based assets”.
In addition, Toncoin will become the only cryptocurrency for non-fiat payments on Telegram, and will also be the only currency used to pay developers and channel owners.
